An article in 2¢ Worth: Is Starbucks Killing Community?, David Warlick speaks of what Starbucks has done to take advantage of our community.
Starbucks is not just a simple coffee store anymore, it has upgraded to become a worldwide social network, much like the internet. In fact, Starbucks offers free WiFi connection from the store to lure more customers in.
Now, people walk into a Starbucks restaurant to talk and do other social things. As Warlick explains in his article, “I find it too easy and appealing to connect exclusively to people who agree with my world view. Engaging in conversations within like-minded communities might even lead me to feel so passionately about my positions that I could become less sensitive to the positions of others on the occasions that I find myself in contact with them, behaving with less civility than I should.”
He then concludes that the problem with all this is not WiFi nor Starbucks, the problem is that we simply cannot embrace the fact that nothing is simple.

As described in The Denver Post in an article "Berthoud Pass closed after tanker spill", yesterday evening, 12:30 PM, a gasoline truck had been driving along Berthoud Pass. The truck overturned from the slippery road and spilled over 4,000 gallons of oil. The road was closed until 11:00 PM and stopped much travel from the Denver Metro area to Winter Park, a ski resort. The driver was unharmed, yet many wonder how the truck flipped in the first place. There were snowy conditions, yet it was not bad enough to overturn a 4,000 gallon oil truck. The cause is being put under investigation and no charges have been given to the driver yet. Hazardous material crew already cleaned up most of the spill and the road is open to public again.

In The Denver Post: Local News, a man, Leo Cisneros had been charged with child abuse for the murder of his daughter. This has been charged because three robbers tried to steal from Leo's home and they got into a gunfight. His daughter, Auralia, age ten, was shot in the face and died. A few days ago he was found not guilty for child abuse, yet was found guilty for something else: selling drugs illigally. He has been convicted for fifty years in jail.
